Officials in the Republic of Niger have revealed that armed men killed at least 60 people in southwestern region of the West African country yesterday.
The Mayor of Tillia, ALFOUZAZI ISSINTAG, the rural district supervising area where the villages belong, said this after stressing that it was revising the toll up from a previous estimate of about 22 people.
The attackers raided three villages in the Tahoua region, which borders Mali, but a security source blamed Islamic State, whose local affiliate is active in the zone.
