RIVERS STATE POLLING UNITS TO INCREASE TO 6866 AS INEC CREATES ADDITIONAL 2424 UNITS

the Independent Electoral Commission, says it will commence expansion of polling units for eligible voters.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers state OBO EFFANGA in a media briefing at the state secretariat in Port Harcourt said the exercise of creating polling unit was last carried out 25years ago.
He noted that INEC has current 4,442 but intend to convert 2424 voting points, PUS, in the state to full fledge polling units.
EFFANGA insisted that PUs can only be sited in public places, non-sectarian locations and not in a private compound, royal palaces and residences of government officials or political parties building.
The Rivers INEC Boss further announced that continuous voter’s registration will commence on June 28 across the country.
Correspondent AYO ODUNGWERU reports that, INEC Rivers maintained that staff have been counsel not to accept lobbing on where to site the new polling units.
