WRITERS IDENTIFY PIRACY AS AUTHORS’ MAJOR CHALLENGE AS ACTIVITIES GET UNDERWAY TO MARK WORLD BOOK AND COPYRIGHT DAY.

Written by on April 23, 2021

Writers have identified piracy as the major challenge authors face as the World Book and Copyright Day takes center stage today.

A poet and author, AMU-NNADI told our correspondent  that copyright is one of those difficult issues that causes pain to writers.

However, AMU-NNADI said writers keep writing for love of literature since most Nigerians do not buy books because of their poor reading culture.

AMU-NNADI also blamed the internet as making it difficult to implement the laws against copyright.

The poet however emphasized that the World Book and Copyright Day, is an occasion to pay a worldwide tribute to books and authors and to encourage people to discover the pleasure of reading.

Our Correspondent reports that World Book Day and Copyright Day is an annual event organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization to promote reading, publishing, and copyright.

This year will be the 25th edition of World Book Day.
