Some customers of Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution, P.H.E.D. PLC have concluded plans for a protest today to the company’s headquarters over repeated cases of alleged over-billing of customers.
The electricity consumers said all efforts to interface with PHED officials to solve several issues affecting them had yielded no results, forcing them to take their complaints to the Moscow Road headquarters of the company.
In a remark, a lawyer and human rights advocate, Mr. Higher King, said PHED had no right to disconnect its customers without prior notice in accordance with Section 94 of the Electric Power Sector Reform Act, 2005.
Our correspondent reports that the take-off point for the protest visit to PHED is outside Sharks Stadium, Ilorin Street by Hospital Road, near Station Road bus stop, Port Harcourt, by 10am.
The Acting Communications Manager of the PHED PLC, CHIOMA ANINWE, did not respond to enquiries by our correspondent.
