ALLEGED TORTURE VICTIM BLAMES RIVERS STATE POLICE ANTI-KIDNAPPING UNIT OPERATIVES FOR LOSS OF PREGNANCY.

One JOY GODSTIME IHUNWO who was allegedly brutalized by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Rivers State has revealed that she has lost her pregnancy after the incident.
In an interview with our correspondent, the lady who wept uncontrollably said the scan result which was sighted by journalists, dated 10th April,2021 showed that she lost the pregnancy.
JOY IHUNWO called on human rights community and well-meaning Nigerians to help her get justice.
Narrating her ordeal, JOY said she was in the house last Tuesday April 6th when men of Anti-kidnapping unit came looking for her husband who is the Chief Security Officer of Rumu-Elechi community in Mile 3 Diobu, Port Harcourt.
The lady stressed that the police operatives took her and her four-year-old child along after arresting her husband and some of his vigilante group members.
The victim said some of the Police officers broke her the door to her bedroom and allegedly beat her up with butt of the gun before whisking her away to their office alongside her husband and his workers.
In the meantime, the Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign has called on the Police authorities to investigate the circumstances that led to the loss of pregnancy by JOY IHUNWO.
A lawyer with the group Jane James called on the Police authorities to ensure their erring officers are identified and sanctioned.
Our correspondent reports that some of the vigilante members who were arrested have been granted bail by the police anti-kidnapping unit.
