NIGERIA RANKS HIGH AMONG AFRICAN COUNTRIES SUFFERING TUBERCULOSIS

The World Health Organization, WHO, has revealed that Nigeria ranks high among African countries suffering Tuberculosis as about 28 thousand persons falls ill to the disease in Nigeria.
Head of WHO in Rivers state, CHINENYE OKAFOR made this known at the 2021 World TB Day Organized by the Rivers state Ministry of Health.
OKAFOR said the disease kills over 167 persons hourly and pledged the readiness of the organization to work with the state government to fight the disease.
Correspondent AYO ODUNGWERU reports that the Commissioner for Health in the state, Professor PRINCEWILL CHIKE said TB is real but when identified at the early stage it can be treated.
On the issue of the Covid-19 Vaccination, he said the vaccine would be made available to everyone after vaccinating the frontline workers and strategic political leaders.
