The Rivers State Task Force on Street Trading, Illegal Markets and Motor Parks has sacked 11 members of the newly-formed task team for alleged extortion.
Our correspondent gathered the affected task force members were dismissed yesterday after reports emerged that they were extorting money from motorists around the Choba axis of Obio Akpor Local Government Area. The Coordinator of the Task Force FELIX NWADIBEYI told journalists that the task force members were sacked to serve as a warning to other officials who might be thinking of corruptively enriching themselves.
NWADIBEYI also gave the team a pass mark in traffic decongestion within a week of operations, stressing of the needed cooperation of Rivers people to report erring task force members.
