The Minister of Finance, ZAINAB AHMED, has defended the Federal Government’s planned sale of public assets on the that move will boost the economy.
In an appearance on a national television programme, AHMED, who is also the Minister of Budget and National Planning, said some government assets were failing and provide little or no value to Nigerians in their condition.
The minister stressed that the intention was also to reactivate the assets and hand it over to concessionaires who would add contributions to the growth in the economy.
She added that the Bureau of Public Enterprises will begin to coordinate with other arms of government on the asset sales in the first quarter of the year, as part of the 13.58 trillion naira 2021 budget.
