NUJ, IN RIVERS STATE ADVOCATES IMPROVED ACCESS TO INFORMATION FOR JOURNALISTS, AS WORLD MARK PRESS FREEDOM DAY TAKES CENTRE STAGE.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in Rivers State is advocating access to information to enable journalists work effectively, as the World mark Press Freedom Day.
In an interview with our Correspondent, the Chairman of NUJ Rivers State Chapter, STANLEY JOB, said journalists should have unrestricted access to information for the interest of the public.
STANLEY JOB also said Press Freedom Day is a day of reflection among media professionals about issues of press freedom and professional ethics.
The Rivers State NUJ chairman, further called on journalists to be careful while carrying out their task and be professional by verifying their information.
Our correspondent reports that 3 May also serves as a reminder to governments of the need to respect their commitment to press freedom.
“The theme of this year’s World Press Freedom Day, is “Information as a Public Good”, underlines the indisputable importance of verified and reliable information.
