Security agents have disrupted a protest by African Grassroots Empowerment Organisation and Rivers State Ethnic Youth Leaders Coalition in Port Harcourt.
The operatives reportedly arrested 8 members of the youth bodies during their march at Port Harcourt.
The two groups had threatened to shut down the operations of Julius Berger Nigeria PLC over alleged breach of local content and corporate social responsibility requirements.
However, the Rivers State Government accused the two groups of planning to breach the peace in the State.
In a statement, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, PAULINUS NSIRIM, said the groups led by PRINCE GOMENE NAMENE and LEGBORSI YAMAABANA were hired for the action.
The commissioner said the protest sponsored by so-called enemies of the state would frustrate the ongoing construction of five Flyovers at Rumuola, GRA Junction, Orochiri-Worukwo, Oroabali and Nkpolu-Oroworukwo.
