Rivers State Governor, NYESOM WIKE says he has forwarded the recommendation of the National Judicial Council, NJC, for the appointment of a Chief Judge in the state to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
Governor WIKE disclosed this when members of the Ekpo Club of Nigeria, Association of Ikwerre Lawyers Worldwide paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Port Harcourt.
The Governor who noted the sentiments that has trailed the recommendation by the NJC, expressed regret that people could not differentiate between the matter that plunged the judiciary into crisis during the previous administration and the present case.
Governor WIKE also said the Judicial Service Commission, JSC, submitted the names of two Judges in the state and the NJC recommended one of them for the appointment of a Chief Judge.
The Governor emphasized that his administration was not playing politics of ethnicity, but that of inclusiveness.
Earlier, the Chairman of Ekpo Club of Nigeria, CHURCHILL WOSU said the visit was to introduce the new Executive of the association to the Governor and commended him for his unprecedented developmental achievements.
