RIVERS STATE MINISTRY OF HEALTH ACHIEVES 64 PERCENT OF GLOBAL FUND TARGET FOR TUBERCULOSIS CONTROL BETWEEN 2019- 2020.

Rivers State Ministry of Health says it has achieved 64 percent of the global fund target for Tuberculosis control between 2019- 2020 .
The Commissioner for Health, Professor PRINCEWILL CHIKE, made this known the World Tuberculosis Day broadcast in the state.
CHIKE noted that 4,521 persons were successfully diagnosed and treated in 2020, assuring that the state would ensure it meets its target in TB control.
CHIKE said this year’s commemoration would focus on finding the TB missing cases and emphasised the commitment of Governor NYESOM WIKE towards disease control.
In the meantime, the Deputy Programme Manager TB Programme, Rivers State Ministry of Health, Doctor LOLO OYAM-JAJA spoke on the theme for World TB Day 2021, ‘THE CLOCK IS TICKING’. OYAM-JAJA, who spoke to correspondent AYO ODUNGWERU, said a cough of more than two-week duration should be tested for Tuberculosis.
