Rivers State Governor NYESOM WIKE has advocated the withdrawal of Nigerian Army troops attached to Very Important Persons, VIPs.
Governor WIKE suggested to the Chief of Army of Staff, Lieutenant General IBRAHIM ATTAHIRU at the Government House in Port Harcourt the troops should instead be deployed to areas affected by the insurgency.
The governor said for the army to succeed in the counter-insurgency operations, officers must stay away from partisan politics.
WIKE pledged the resolve of his administration to sustain his support to the Nigerian Army in the discharge of its cored responsibility of protecting the nation’s territorial integrity.
Earlier, Lieutenant General IBRAHIM ATTAHIRU thanked Governor WIKE for his continued logistics support to the Nigerian Army and for changing the landscape of the state.
