President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the military and Katsina State government for the successful operation that led to the release of the Kankara School boys abducted last Friday.
Buhari stated that the governor of Katsina State has been up and doing since the attack took place and expressed happiness for the release of the boys.
Earlier, the spokesman for the governor of Katsina state, Abdul Labaran disclosed that the 344 schoolboys who were freed are all in good condition and were being taken to the regional capital Katsina City, and would soon be reunited with their families.
However, some reports suggest that not all the boys were freed.
Reuters news agency quoted the Katsina state Governor Aminu Bello Masari saying, “we have recovered most of the boys. It’s not all of them,” while a security source told the AFP news agency that some of the boys are still with their captors.
Islamist militant group Boko Haram claimed responsibility for the attack.
